Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a Lead Testing Technician to join our Electrical Power Services team in Maryland. You will lead complex testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and power system evaluation projects, acting as the technical authority on assigned work and guiding field crews across multiple sites.

The role emphasizes leadership, advanced technical expertise, and adherence to NFPA 70E, IEEE, and customer specs with up to 75% travel.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• 8–12 years in electrical testing, commissioning or related power systems.
• Experience leading technicians or crews.
• Strong knowledge of power systems, protection and control.
• Ability to interpret one-line and schematic diagrams and construction docs.
• Proficiency with testing procedures and commissioning plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead testing, maintenance, commissioning and system evaluation projects.
• Act as technical lead for complex power system projects.
• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and commission equipment.
• Review project specs, switching plans, and relay schemes.
• Develop testing procedures and commissioning plans.
• Lead outage planning and startup events.
• Provide technical oversight for field crews and project execution.
• Review field reports and recommendations with customers and stakeholders.
• Travel as needed (up to 75%).
