Altria in Richmond, VA is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer II (Electrical) to lead electrical engineering for high-speed manufacturing and packaging equipment, manage capital projects, and mentor technical staff.

Role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 3+ years of experience, PLC/IPC control systems, Beckhoff and Rockwell; will collaborate with electricians, support staff and vendors; some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience as an Electrical Engineer in manufacturing.
• Minimum 3+ years proven experience in engineering or manufacturing.
• Experience with high-speed manufacturing and packaging equipment.
• Experience with PLC & IPC machine control systems; Beckhoff and Rockwell/Allen-Bradley preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with experience presenting scope, timelines, and budgets to senior leadership.
• Willingness to take initiative and accountability.
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot machinery problems using electrical schematics.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and make independent judgments under time constraints.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering activities for high-speed manufacturing and packaging equipment.
• Provide electrical engineering services and technical expertise with in-house electricians and OEMs.
• Manage projects with cross-functional teams and present progress to leadership.
• Maintain technical standards and business processes; grow knowledge base.
• Develop work plans aligned with business objectives and budgets.
• Serve as a technical resource in electrical specialization.
• Allocate resources on multi-functional projects within budget guidelines.
• Manage capital projects with 1–5 million annual scope.
• Translate knowledge into practical solutions for use by others.
• Mentor and develop technical talent in the department.
