Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for water and wastewater projects in the Kansas City area. You will guide client standards and mentor engineering staff across regional design centers, delivering reliable power distribution and plant electrical systems.

Ideal candidate has 5–8 years of electrical design experience, PE license, and strong consulting skills to support business development and client engagement in a dynamic, employee-owned environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering and PE licensure as required.
5–8 years in electrical design, planning and construction services.
Consulting and Water/Wastewater experience preferred.
Experience with medium/low voltage distribution equipment, VFDs and standby generators.
Understanding of PLC hardware, software, networks, HMI/SCADA, instrumentation and fiber cabling.

Responsibilities

Lead Electrical design for water/wastewater projects.
Provide technical guidance on client standards to engineering staff in regional design centers.
Serve as technical expert in electrical power distribution and plant systems for client consultations.
Support business development related to enhanced Electrical services.
Build client relationships to understand needs and drivers.
