Job summary

CEI is seeking a fully competent Electrical Engineer to design large-scale solar PV and battery energy storage systems (1 to 500+ MW) at medium voltage, leading project teams and mentoring others.

The role requires strong knowledge of NEC/NESC, extensive design experience, and the ability to produce construction documentation, review calculations, and coordinate with cross-functional teams on complex infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5-7 years at an electrical design firm or design-build contractor (solar experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of NEC and NESC codes for utility-scale power systems design.

Responsibilities

• Execute electrical designs for utility-scale PV and BESS systems.
• Produce complete construction documentation, including drawings, reports, and specifications.
• Design and review AC/DC systems, grounding, DAS wiring, and electrical layouts.
• Perform and review supporting calculations: load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, power loss, thermal analysis.
• Review equipment submittals, respond to RFIs, and support construction with technical expertise.
• Lead internal and external coordination with engineers, PMs, superintendents, general foremen, and clients.
• Follow QA/QC processes and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Attend site visits and technical meetings as required.
• Stay current on continuing education and maintain licensure.
• Champion CAD and design workflows across the team.
