Job summary

CEI seeks an Electrical Engineer with proven expertise in designing large-scale solar PV and BESS (1–500+ MW). You will independently complete assignments, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with project managers and field teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient designs.

You will lead electrical design tasks, produce construction documents, and guide complex calculations while staying current with NEC/NESC standards and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5-7 years at an electrical design firm or design-build contractor (solar experience preferred).
• Proven experience designing large-scale solar PV and BESS (1–500+ MW) interconnected at medium voltage.
• Strong knowledge of NEC and NESC codes for commercial/utility-scale design.
• Ability to lead/mentor others and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Execute electrical designs for utility-scale PV and BESS systems.
• Produce complete construction documentation including drawings, reports, and specifications.
• Design and review AC/DC systems, grounding, DAS wiring, and electrical layouts.
• Perform and review calculations: load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, power loss, thermal analysis.
• Review equipment submittals, respond to RFIs, support construction with technical expertise.
• Lead internal and external coordination with engineers, PMs, superintendents, and clients.
• Follow QA/QC processes and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Attend site visits and technical meetings as required.
• Stay current on continuing education and licensure.
