Job summary

NEI Electric Power Engineering seeks a Team Lead for Renewable Substations in a role that can be remote or in Lakewood, CO. You will manage engineers, drafters, and technicians to deliver accurate and timely electrical design work, mentor staff, and help grow department best practices.

Requirements include a 4-year electrical degree, FE, 5+ years of experience, AutoCAD proficiency, and strong power-system software skills.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
• Experience: 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience
• Licensure: FE is required, PE is preferred
• Knowledge with medium and low voltage distribution, switchgear, motor control centers, and industrial instrumentation and controls
• Proficiency with AutoCAD
• Power system software such as DIgSILENT/PowerFactory, EasyPower, ETAP or SKM, CDEGS, and CYMCAP preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and standard computer software
• Strong communication and mentoring abilities
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Responsibilities

• Performs detailed design of electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, and related studies
• Prepares computer-based models and power system studies including short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, arc flash, motor starting, and harmonic analysis
• Develops protective relay settings and installs relaying and control systems
• Reviews equipment data sheets, manuals, and testing reports for design approvals
• Seeks value engineering opportunities and design efficiencies
• Assigns work to and coordinates with engineers, technicians, or staff
• Mentors and coaches team members toward professional growth
• Supports business development and prepares proposals as needed
• Assists with engineering budget and scope, including change orders
• Reviews submittals for conformance with client specs and design
• Provides field assistance, troubleshooting, and observation reports
• Maintains Codes and Standards knowledge and safe practices
• Maintains strong client relationships and professional standards
• Occasional overtime and travel as required
• Attends trainings and conferences for advancement
• Checks the work of designers and field staff for quality
