Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer at our Indiana Harbor facility in East Chicago, IN to drive electrical reliability, equipment performance, and continuous improvement across a heavy industrial environment.

The role leads capital and maintenance projects, mentors maintenance personnel and contractors, and partners with operations teams to maximize safety, reliability, and production uptime, including off-hour support for a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
5+ years in manufacturing or industrial settings.
Strong troubleshooting and project management skills.
Experience with industrial electrical systems.
Ability to support a continuous 24/7 operation.

Responsibilities

Lead electrical reliability and continuous improvement efforts across manufacturing operations.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical, controls, and automation issues.
Manage and execute maintenance and capital projects, including scope, budget, schedule, and implementation.
Perform root cause analysis and develop long-term solutions to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to support production goals.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to maintenance personnel and contractors.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Support outage planning, equipment upgrades, and commissioning activities.
Provide technical support for a 24/7 manufacturing operation as needed.
