Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our Energy & Industrial Group in a hybrid work model. You will lead electrical system design for power plant and industrial facilities, coordinate with clients, and mentor junior engineers on complex calculations and drawings.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of experience in power systems, ABET-accredited BS, and PE licensure or the ability to obtain one. Candidate will travel for site reviews and design coordination as needed.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• PE license or ability to earn PE license.
• 10+ years of experience in power plant or industrial plant design.
• Experience with equipment selection, control philosophy, and calculations.
• Experience with medium- and low-voltage distribution systems.
• Experience with ETAP and/or SKM calculations.
• Experience as a lead engineer liaising with clients.
• Experience reviewing other engineers' design calculations and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a wide variety of electrical engineering issues.
• Involve in power distribution designs and preparation of procurement specifications for major electrical equipment and services.
• Assist project manager to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
• Coordinate design activities to meet specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare and review functional design drawings, single line diagrams, relay/metering diagrams, cable blocks, and schematics; produce design input for 3-D modeling.
• Prepare and review calculations including power system studies, voltage drop, relay settings, and arc flash calculations.
• Interface with vendors to prepare BOMs and equipment purchase specs; provide client recommendations.
• Prepare reports and studies with clear technical information per client and S&L formats.
• Perform independent reviews of others' calculations and drawings.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and develop career via Communities of Practice.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and site verification.
