Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, seeks an Electrical Engineer 5 to lead the next-generation submarine electric plant project. You will coordinate across disciplines and act as the main technical liaison with the customer, shaping budget, schedule, and material needs.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering (ABET-accredited) with extensive relevant experience, and offers relocation support and a clear path for mentoring junior engineers within the Future Propulsion Electrical

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Master’s degree with 12+ years or Ph.D. with 9+ years of relevant experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and testing of the next-generation submarine electric plant.
• Coordinate across multiple disciplines and organizations to drive design.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison with the customer and advise on budget, schedule, and material considerations.
• Mentor and develop internal talent for future naval propulsion designs.
