Job summary

Burns & McDonnell seeks an Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design teams on diverse projects, including commercial offices, healthcare and government facilities. You will drive design from concept to construction, tailoring plans to budget, codes, and client needs.

Responsibilities include preparing specs and data sheets, reviewing vendor drawings, managing schedules and budgets, guiding junior engineers, and ensuring QA/QC and safety compliance across projects.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited degree with 3+ years of electrical engineering experience (consulting preferred).
  • Alternative ABET-accredited degree in electrical/related Eng Tech with FE and 3+ years experience.
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering with at least 2 years of experience (consulting preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical, quantitative problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and rendering tools.
  • Attention to detail, facilitation, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • EIT Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design from concept through design completion for project needs.
  • Prepare equipment specifications, RFQs, data sheets, and bid summaries.
  • Review vendor drawings; interface with suppliers, clients and other disciplines.
  • Develop project schedule, scope, budget, staffing and construction planning; manage change orders.
  • Apply electrical engineering standards and solve complex design challenges.
  • Quality review drawings and coordinate with field for installation issues.
  • Lead field inspections, measurements or calculations for electrical systems.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for clients and publications.
  • Build relationships with clients and contractors and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and ensure QA/QC and safety compliance.
