Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. in the United States is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to support our Power Division. The role involves leading electrical design on BESS projects, coordinating with service leaders and the project team, and serving as primary electrical contact for clients.

You will supervise engineers, plan resources, prepare construction documents, review QA/QC, and help grow the BESS electrical engineering practice while maintaining firm standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, and interconnection requirements.
• Proficiency with electrical power system modeling software.
• 4–10 years of experience in electrical design for power generation, energy storage, or substations.
• Ability to read and develop construction drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience preparing proposals, managing budgets, change orders, and coordinating with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage electrical engineering of commercial and utility-scale BESS projects and budgets.
• Coordinate contractual scope and change orders with the project manager.
• Ensure schedules for electrical engineering deliverables are met.
• Assist PMs in responding to RFPs with scope and fee estimates.
• Coordinate with civil, structural/geotechnical engineers, and surveyors.
• Schedule and plan electrical engineering resources weekly.
• Lead design and construction document prep for BESS projects and serve as client contact.
• Oversee electrical team resources performing calculations and studies.
• Coordinate with clients, utilities, system integrators, and code authorities.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of design work.
• Stay current on energy storage tech and best practices.
• Collaborate with other offices and share workload as needed.
• Support project construction with RFIs, submittals, and field coordination.
• Assist Market Directors with marketing materials for BESS services.
• Supervise and mentor graduate engineers, staff engineers, and designers.
