Job summary

MLGW seeks an Engineer 4 in Attachment Engineering and Services to design and modify attachments on electric distribution, network, and streetlight systems in Memphis and Shelby County.

The role requires 6 years of design experience, a Tennessee Professional Engineer license, an ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, and a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Knowledge of NESC standards is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 6 years of experience in designing electric distribution facilities.
  • Knowledge of pole attachment processes and guidelines, customer premise power systems, lighting systems, and/or network distribution systems.
  • Valid driver's license in Tennessee.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Tennessee.
  • NIMS training within one year of entering the role.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, assigns, and coordinates the work of employees and liaises with other departments and agencies.
  • Plans, designs, and directs layout modifications to attachments on electric distribution, network, and streetlighting systems.
  • Prepares reports, calculations, and budget-related documents for project initiation and termination.
  • Monitors attachment construction for compliance with standards and NESC guidelines.
  • Conducts field visits to assess construction changes and implement corrective actions.
  • Stay informed about policies and industry developments related to attachments to distribution facilities and street lighting.
