Job summary

INFICON Inc. in Syracuse, NY seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer to drive hardware, firmware, and AI-enabled initiatives across NPD and sustaining engineering. You will own subsystem direction, contribute to AI-driven workflows, and coordinate with hardware, software, and mechanical teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, end-to-end ownership, and a bias for rapid prototyping and production readiness. A strong electronics background and leadership in complex systems are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in electrical and embedded systems design.
• Expert-level proficiency in EDA tools such as Cadence OrCAD.
• Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, power management, EMI/EMC.
• Experience leading subsystems as product owner and contributing to Agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design from concept to high-density PCB layout and production.
• Provide hands-on leadership in analog, digital, power, and embedded design.
• Integrate DSP solutions into larger system architectures with hardware/software teams.
• Balance prototyping (NPD) with sustaining engineering and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Build breadboard MVPs, validate with customers, and iterate rapidly.
• Review designs, test plans, and documentation; guide other engineers.
• Collaborate in a cross-functional Agile team and communicate across functions.
• Stay current with AI-enabled tools and new component technologies.
