Description

You will be leading the group on interesting and challenging projects that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues to support single and multi-discipline projects.

The majority of the projects performed for our clients require multi-discipline interface and coordination.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Lead efforts performed by group members to ensure successful completion of electrical engineering project deliverables to meet all technical, quality, financial and project controls expectations
  2. Initiating and conveying scope of work to group members
  3. Defining deliverables (i.e., calculations, specs, drawings, design change etc.)
  4. Reviewing status and tracking progress of group members to maintain project scope/budget and keep client informed
  5. Routine status meetings
  6. Submitting progress reports
  7. Tracking and resolving open items and emergent project issues
  8. Coordinating completion of project deliverables

Lead the team for detailed design phases for all aspects of electrical engineering work, including interface and coordination with other disciplines.

Develop project scope, cost estimates, and schedules for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.

Develop proposals for electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.

Provide technical oversight and supervision for electrical engineering activities, including:

  • Engineering design change packages for equipment installation, replacement, or upgrades to ensure long-term reliability
  • Engineering calculations supporting design change packages (e.g., AC/DC power studies, short circuit, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, protective relay settings)
  • Equipment procurement specifications
  • Bid review and evaluation, vendor communication, and tracking

Interface with the client to validate scope and ensure satisfaction.

Mentor and guide the development of the group.

Identify client needs for strategic opportunities.

Leverage client relationships for follow-on work.

Prepare and coordinate multi-discipline proposals.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience include:

  • BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited program
  • 10+ years in electrical system design for power plants
  • 3+ years leading an engineering design group
  • Experience in equipment selection, design change packages, calculations, and specifications
  • Experience as a firm/client liaison
  • Knowledge of electrical system design (low and medium voltage)
  • Effective communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Detail-oriented work approach
  • Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear station
  • PE licensure preferred
