Lead Electrical Design Engineer

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement project-specific Electrical Engineering execution plan to ensure efficient and effective project execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including all engineering disciplines, project managers, operations, and procurement, to ensure seamless project integration and successful project delivery.
  • Lead and manage the execution of Electrical Engineering scope of work at the selected engineering service provider in all phases (Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detail Design).
  • Monitor and report actual progress and forecasting, including management of labor hours and delivered documents.
  • Lead the design and selection of electrical equipment considering safety, reliability, maintainability, cost, and schedule.
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Apply industry codes and standards relevant to the chemical industry, such as NFPA 70, NEC, IEEE, in the design and evaluation of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Oversee procurement of electrical equipment, ensuring adherence to project requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct reviews and quality control checks to ensure compliance with design specifications and project requirements.
  • Utilize software tools like SKM, Bluebeam, Navisworks, AVEVA Engineering, or equivalent to support electrical engineering activities and enhance project efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, with focus on the chemical or petrochemical industry preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a lead Electrical Engineer in large capital projects.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills for implementing cross-functional process improvements.
  • Ability to mentor and develop less experienced team members.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams with excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with capital stage gate process and project execution.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to Electrical Engineering in the chemical industry.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
