Lead Electrical Design Engineer – Ft. Wayne, IndianaFull-Time | On-Site | Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

IFP Automation is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join our rapidly growing Electrical Control Panel Design & Build team at our UL 508A certified manufacturing center in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

We’re a family-owned automation and motion control supplier, proudly serving customers throughout North America since 1976. With recent expansions to our facility and team, this role presents an excellent opportunity for professional growth within a collaborative and innovative environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and develop industrial electrical control panels using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Perform component sizing and equipment selection
  • Create, revise, and maintain detailed electrical schematics and documentation
  • Develop and manage Bills of Material (BOMs)
  • Work closely with electrical fabrication technicians
  • Conduct equipment testing on-site and occasionally at customer locations
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, vendors, contractors, and clients
  • Ensure compliance with UL 508A standards, project specs, and applicable codes
  • Provide specifications for electrical materials procurement

What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves:

  • 3+ years experience designing industrial control panels
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience selecting and wiring VFDs, relays, soft starters, instrumentation, and networking components
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Familiarity with hazardous location wiring and international codes
  • Experience with low/medium voltage wiring and industrial communication protocols
  • Understanding of UL 508A requirements
