Job summary

King’s Way Christian Schools, a private Christian school in Vancouver, WA, is seeking an experienced early learning educator. You will implement child-centered curricula, collaborate with staff, and maintain safe, nurturing classrooms for children from infancy through preschool years.

The role requires 2 years of relevant experience, strong communication, and the ability to obtain STARS/DCYF MERIT training, CPR/First Aid, and a Washington Food Handler card.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in an early learning environment
• Flexible and willing to step in and help where needed to support the team
• Good communication skills and ability to develop positive working relationships with coworkers, administration, students and parents
• Have completed, or ability to obtain STARS basic training through DCYF MERIT system
• Blood Borne Pathogen training (provided upon hire)
• Current certificate in CPR/First Aid or ability to obtain certification (provided upon hire)
• Current Washington Food Handlers card, or ability to obtain one
• Ability to complete Safe Sleep training provided by DCYF (required for certain classrooms)
• Willingness and ability to obtain an Initial ECE Certificate within 5 years of hire; and a Short ECE Certificate within 2 years of completing the Initial Certificate
• Ability to lift up to 40lbs. and use chemicals (i.e. bleach) for cleaning.
• Pass a DCYF background check in order to supervise children alone

Responsibilities

• Implement developmentally appropriate child centered curriculum, post lesson plans and class schedules in collaboration with Administration, Office Staff, and colleagues.
• Establish and maintain positive communication with families, children, and staff.
• Supervise, interact, and play with children during assigned times of responsibilities.
• Direct responsibilities of support staff and volunteers to maintain safety, orderliness, and positive learning environment.
• Follow established plans to meet the needs of the individual children with concerns for interests, disabilities, special talents, cultural background and individual styles.
• Prepare materials for lesson plans.
• Provide general housekeeping tasks such as sweeping and picking up toys and materials used in projects.
• Maintain constant attendance count for children in your care and ensure that children are never left unattended.
• Create a developmental portfolio for each child in collaboration with colleagues.
