Job summary

The Lead Teacher at EASTCONN Killingly Head Start at Killingly High School in Killingly, CT leads the teaching team to plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support the readiness of the children through social/emotional, cognitive, physical, and language activities.

They establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment and encourage family involvement to strengthen relationships between children, families, and the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education plus three years related work.
• Knowledge of early childhood education including developmentally appropriate practices.
• Knowledge of child growth and development.
• Experience working with families to support early learning.
• Must maintain a current motor vehicle license and have access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, preparing and implementing a successful learning environment that supports each child's development.
• Support and guide classroom staff growth and development.
• Communicate regularly with supervisor and share pertinent information promptly.
• Observe and record children’s behavior to assess skills and plan accordingly.
• Maintain the space, equipment, and supplies in a safe, clean, and orderly fashion.
• Provide accurate reports, record keeping and documentation for the classroom.
