Job summary

EASTCONN Killingly Head Start is seeking an Early Head Start Lead Teacher to direct the teaching team in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate experiences for children aged 0–3. The role emphasizes a safe, engaging learning environment and strong family involvement in the child’s learning journey.

Responsibilities include leading curriculum planning, staff supervision, CTELDS alignment, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of early childhood education including developmentally appropriate practices.
• Knowledge of child growth and development.
• Experience working with families to support early learning.
• Provide current physical and negative TB test upon hire.
• Must maintain a current motor vehicle license and have access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Direct the teaching team in planning and implementing learning experiences for 0-3 year olds.
• Establish a safe, healthy learning environment and encourage family involvement.
• Lead and supervise staff, conduct annual evaluations, and participate in meetings and trainings.
• Ensure adherence to Head Start, CTELDS, and related regulations and standards.
• Maintain organized documentation and confidential records.
