Job summary

Karman Industries in Signal Hill, CA, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – E-Motor to lead the stand‑up of our first internal e‑motor manufacturing line from concept through equipment commissioning and production handover. You will own equipment layout, tooling selection, process development, vendor assessment, and DFM feedback to design for manufacturability, ensuring cost, quality, and schedule targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
• Experience with magnet feeding, rotor balancing, or motor manufacturing preferred; drive unit/e-axle knowledge a plus.
• Ability to scope, design, and commission a line from scratch (greenfield).
• Proficient in 2D/3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and transitioning systems from prototype to production.

Responsibilities

• Stand up Karman's first internal e-motor manufacturing line from concept to production handover.
• Lead rotor and stator manufacturing process and equipment from concept to full production.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, facilities, and program teams to build out the line.
• Validate supplier capabilities and balance outsourced vs. in-house processes for buy-vs-build decisions.
• Own equipment/process specification development, vendor assessments, and data-driven sourcing.
