Job summary

Joby Aviation in San Carlos, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to bridge design engineering and high-volume production for motor systems. You will champion manufacturing readiness, lead DFMs with cross-functional teams, and drive safe, reliable assembly on the Electric Propulsion line.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering (or related) with 2+ years experience, proficiency in 3D CAD, and the ability to travel to China up to 90 days per year.

Responsibilities

• Shape manufacturing processes for motor production and provide DFM feedback to ensure high yields and readiness.
• Improve throughput, ergonomics, and repeatability from prototype to volume production.
• Evolve production processes using data and Lean principles across welding, winding, rotor/stator build, and final motor test.
• Develop and maintain clear Standard Work instructions and mentor production staff.
• Own the full lifecycle of assigned manufacturing processes from deployment to validation.
