Job summary

Forward Air Corporation in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, and move freight in a multimodal terminal environment. You will operate sit-down or stand-up forklifts and other MHE, ensuring accurate documentation and on-time deliveries.

The role requires 3+ years of dock experience, a valid forklift certificate, and the ability to work night schedules including Sundays and weekends.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Valid forklift certification/licensure (or ability to obtain).
Minimum 3 years of dock or warehouse experience.
Strong English communication skills, written and spoken.
Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs with or without assistance.

Responsibilities

Load and unload freight using forklifts and MHE while following safety procedures.
Move, stage, and position freight between docks and warehouse areas per SOP.
Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
Assist drivers with loading/unloading and coordinate with dock staff.
Scan and track freight with handheld devices to ensure accuracy.
Identify damaged freight and report issues promptly.
Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and comply with PPE standards.
Support productivity and adapt to varied schedules including nights and weekends.
