Job summary

LiftOne seeks an experienced Dock and Door Road Technician to diagnose, repair and maintain loading dock and door equipment at customer sites. You will perform preventive maintenance, document work, and manage a company van and parts inventory.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and welding certification, plus forklift/road tech readiness, strong customer service, and a valid driver’s license with a clean record. Travel required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Certified welder or able to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Welder apprenticeship completed or three years welding experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend regulations and instructions in the local language.
  • Valid driver license with a clean driving record.
  • Must demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying the general problem based on customer concern and testing to locate the failure.
  • Completing the appropriate repairs in the safest and most efficient manner and testing the equipment to ensure it is working properly.
  • Driving to and from locations (customer sites, parts pickups, etc.) to address on-site needs for the customer.
  • Making necessary repairs (with customer approval) and performing other basic maintenance as needed.
  • Processing the necessary documentation at the completion of each job, ensuring all parts are accounted for, time is documented, and each repair is itemized.
  • Following all safety procedures in performing work as well as company policies.
  • Properly identifying and ordering all necessary replacement parts.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Summary

The Dock and Door Road Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing loading dock and door equipment. This position is also responsible for performing preventive maintenance on customer equipment and recommending service as needed. Proper processing of paperwork at the completion of each job is required. The dock and door road technician will also be responsible for a company‑owned service van and must maintain the van and its parts inventory.

Essential Functions

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma, G.E.D., or technical school graduate preferred
  • Must be a certified welder or must obtain certification within the first 30 days of being hired
  • Must have completed the welder apprentice level or have three years of welding experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend regulations and instructions written in the locally applicable language(s)
  • Must be able to perform duties at elevated heights
  • Must be able to repair equipment according to skill level
  • Must possess basic computer and tablet knowledge (Microsoft and Apple OS)
  • Must hold a valid driver license and must maintain a clean driving record throughout employment
  • Must demonstrate exceptional customer service skills
Language Skills

Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to write routine correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages and must perform these operations using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Must understand weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Must interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagramographic, or schedule form.

Work Environment

Must be exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment. Must occasionally be exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and vibration. Must occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and the risk of electrical shock. Must tolerate occasionally loud noise levels.
