Job summary

San Diego State University seeks an experienced Lead Dispatcher to provide lead direction and operational oversight for the University Police Communications Center. This role coordinates dispatch operations, supports communications personnel, and ensures reliable emergency communications and public safety services for the university community.

Full-time on-site position requiring supervision of staff, system oversight (9-1-1, radio, CAD, access control, CCTV), and coordination with outside

Qualifications

• One year of experience using a switchboard and two-way radio in law enforcement or similar agency.
• Ability to learn automated dispatch and law enforcement systems and databases.
• POS T Dispatcher course completion or ability to complete successfully.

Responsibilities

• Provide lead direction to staff and establish work priorities in a 24/7 center.
• Oversee daily dispatch operations and ensure policy compliance.
• Monitor emergency communications systems and coordinate with partners.
• Enter and safeguard information in law enforcement databases and CLETS.
• Coordinate mutual aid and support with outside agencies.
