Job summary

KenCrest in Newark, DE seeks a Lead Direct Support Professional who leads by example, mentors staff, and supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

You’ll help with daily routines, transportation, and skill-building in home and community settings, and you'll ensure safety, documentation, and collaboration with families and medical staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• 1–3 years of direct care or health-related experience.
• Must pass background checks and drug test.
• CPR, First Aid and Medication training are required or will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning and personal care.
• Administer medications and follow individual health plans (training provided).
• Transport individuals to appointments, work, or activities.
• Support development of life skills and independent choices.
• Maintain records and complete forms as needed.
• Communicate with coworkers, families, and medical staff.
• Mentor and support other staff on the shift.
• Assist with money tracking, supplies and scheduling.
• Keep the home safe and follow emergency procedures.
