Job summary

Merakey is seeking a Lead Direct Care Professional (DSP) to support individuals with disabilities in residential and community settings. The role focuses on teaching, coaching, personal care, and documentation of daily living activities to promote dignity and independence.

Earns $28–$30 per hour with raises after obtaining the RBT certification; duties include shift leadership, medication support, transportation, and collaboration on support plans within a HIPAA-compliant environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a verifiable High School Diploma/G.E.D.
• Required to complete a DSP 1 and DSP 2 certification within 1 year of hire.
• Required to complete an RBT certification within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Act in lead role on assigned shift; point person for activities, incident reporting, and program liaison.
• Assist Administrator with staff scheduling as assigned.
• Support individuals with activities of daily living and personal care in residential/community settings.
• Prepare/assist with meals that meet nutritional needs.
• Accompany individuals to medical appointments and complete pre/post paperwork.
• Dispense medications per policy and report errors.
• Arrange transport and ensure compliance with driving policies.
• Document daily progress in the individual's electronic health record and update communication logs.
• Report uncharacteristic situations to manager for direction.
• Support progress toward individual goals and engagement with community resources.
• Follow nursing/behavior plans and help individuals access public transportation.
• Ensure compliance with Merakey policies and HIPAA; complete required documentation and trainings.

Education

Valid driver's license
