Job summary

University of Notre Dame is hiring a Lead Service Associate for South Dining Hall in Campus Dining. You will lead a team of service associates to create a welcoming dining atmosphere for students, faculty and guests, while overseeing daily culinary operations and maintaining safety standards.

You will also manage daily setup, food safety, sanitation, and assist with large campus events. The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced dining

Qualifications

• Capable of managing time effectively with minimal supervision.
• Positive, respectful, and committed to the schedule you create.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 6 hours).
• Ability to move around the café to attend to guest needs.
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 25 pounds.
• Follow food safety procedures for handling, storing, and serving food.

Responsibilities

• Prepare dining room for service and set up serving lines, utensils, and garnishes.
• Take temperatures to ensure proper hot/cold holding per HACCP guidelines.
• Set up and maintain bars and tables, and manage beverage services.
• Lead service associates, assign tasks, and train staff as needed.
• Monitor performance and ensure customer satisfaction with quality service.
• Ensure sanitation and safety requirements are met and suggest improvements.
• Assist with event setups, small functions, and supervision of larger events.
• Assist with inventory tasks, linen, catering supplies, and dishroom operations.
• Assist with dishwashing and kitchen cleanliness, including dish machine and lines.
• Ensure all flatware bins, napkins, and stock are replenished throughout meals.
