Job summary

First Student in Richmond, VA is hiring a Lead Diesel Technician to drive safe, reliable vehicle performance and lead a preventive maintenance program. You will mentor technicians on a day shift, Monday through Friday, with opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

• Five years of diesel or automotive maintenance experience.
• Lead technician or supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license; willingness to obtain CDL.
• Strong computer skills.
• Must possess a mechanic's tool set.
• ASE certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee complex diagnostics and repairs; perform road tests as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of engines, emissions, hydraulics, electrical systems and HVAC for preventive/repair maintenance.
• Supervise shop technicians, conduct daily huddles, training and evaluations.
• Manage inventory, approve expenses within scope, schedule fleet maintenance, ensure safety compliance.
• Conduct inspections, monitor performance, and adhere to federal/state standards.
• Collaborate with management on maintenance status, budgets and special projects.
• Participate in ASE certification program.
• Perform hands-on work as needed.
