Job summary

Lautenbach Recycling is seeking a Diesel Mechanic III for our Mount Vernon facility. This role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy‑duty diesel equipment with an emphasis on safety and efficiency.

You will lead maintenance tasks, document service history, and participate in on‑call rotations. OEM/ASE certifications and a CDL are valued as you support our recycling operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• AA in Diesel Technology, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience, required.
• OEM certification and/or ASE certification preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced knowledge of engines, transmissions, differentials, A/C, suspensions, final drives, swing drives, and hydraulics.
• Determine unit condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests and identifying deficiencies.
• Perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
• Test equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications; make adjustments as needed.
• Maintain cost efficiency by using warranty coverage and evaluating service and parts options.
• Maintain accurate documentation of service and repairs in vehicle and equipment records.
• Develop technical skills through ongoing training opportunities.
• Maintain prompt, reliable attendance on scheduled workdays.
• Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and the work area.
• Comply with applicable safety standards and regulations, including PPE requirements.
• Participate in the on-call rotation as scheduled.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
