Job summary

AllSearch Professional Staffing represents a well-established scrap metal recycling client in Sterling Heights, MI seeking a Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic. The role focuses on diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy equipment, trucks, and material-handling gear with hands-on diesel expertise.

You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot diesel, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, weld/fabricate as needed, and operate from a company service truck on a full-time basis,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on diesel mechanic experience with diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair.
• Experience servicing heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and material handling equipment.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Welding and fabrication experience required.
• Experience reading service manuals, electrical and hydraulic schematics and technical documentation.
• Must have own mechanic tools; company-provided tools may supplement.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment, diesel equipment, trucks, trailers, and material handling equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and identify root causes.
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs to minimize downtime.
• Service and repair heavy-duty trucks and trailers, including roll-off equipment and PTO systems.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, including leaks and components.
• Maintain and repair scrap handling and recycling equipment (cranes, balers, forklifts).
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair gas, diesel, and electric forklifts.
• Maintain and repair truck and platform scales.
• Weld and fabricate for repairs and modifications.
• Respond to field service calls using a company service truck.
• Keep records of inspections, PMs, diagnostics, services, and repairs.
• Follow safety procedures and maintenance standards.
