Job summary

VT Group (VTG) is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to drive modern ICAM solutions on a large technical development program. You will design and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and manage Linux environments using Jenkins, GitHub, Rundeck, Nexus, and AWS services.

You will participate in the full SDLC, collaborate across teams, and support 24/7 production services with an on-call rotation. Strong communication and leadership are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Expert-level Linux experience.
  • Extensive experience with Jenkins, GitHub, and Rundeck.
  • Deep understanding of SDLC and DevOps practices.
  • Proficiency with software testing tools such as JUnit.
  • Experience in Agile environments.
  • Hands-on with AWS services (CloudFormation, EC2, S3, RDS, VPC).
  • Strong CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, and ECS.
  • Experience administering Nexus repositories.
  • Proficient with version control systems and issue tracking (Jira, Confluence).

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard DevOps tools.
  • Develop, maintain, and support automated build, deployment, and release processes.
  • Administer and support Linux-based environments.
  • Utilize DevOps tools including Jenkins, GitHub, Rundeck, and Nexus to support software development and deployment activities.
  • Support the full SDLC using DevOps best practices.
  • Utilize testing/performance tools such as JUnit to ensure quality.
  • Develop scripts and automate infrastructure with AWS (CloudFormation, EC2, S3, RDS, VPC).
  • Build, deploy, and manage containerized apps using Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, ECS.
  • Manage and optimize container orchestration, deployment, and scaling in production.
  • Maintain Nexus repositories and version control/issue tracking systems.
  • Work within Agile teams using Jira and Confluence.
  • Implement container registry and container security best practices.
  • Collaborate with dev, ops, and project teams to ensure timely software delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

VTG is looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer on a 200+ FTE technical development program responsible for delivering modern Identity Access Credential Management (ICAM) solutions. As a DevOps Engineer on this program, you will have the opportunity to build strong systems and software utilizing cloud capabilities to support a complex program. Based in DevOps framework, you will participate in and/or direct major deliverables throughout all aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding and unit testing. This role requires supporting an on‑call rotation to ensure mission critical services remain operational 24/7/365. Rotation is typically to be on‑call 1 full calendar week every 2 months.

Do you have what it takes?
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree and 11–15 years of relevant experience.
  • Expert-level experience with the Linux operating system.
  • Expert-level experience using Jenkins, GitHub, and Rundeck.
  • Expert knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and DevOps practices.
  • Experience utilizing software testing and performance tools such as JUnit.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Experience scripting and working with AWS services including CloudFormation, EC2, S3, RDS, and VPC.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and Amazon ECS.
  • Experience administering Nexus repositories.
  • Experience using version control systems.
  • Experience using issue and problem tracking systems.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Proficiency building, managing, and optimizing containerized applications using CI/CD pipelines.
