Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Design Engineering Specialist to lead projects for the Integrated Drivetrain Energy Solutions (IDES) Division, covering Large Mining Truck, Off Highway Truck, and Wheel Tractor Scraper products.

You will provide design, validation, source council, and support to execute a portfolio of projects. The role emphasizes product design leadership, design optimization, supplier collaboration, and hands-on prototyping with a focus on safety, quality, and cost.

Qualifications

Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts.
Product Development Life Cycle - MFG: Knowledge of manufacturing product development lifecycle phases and deliverables.
Product Testing: Design and execute testing strategies to ensure product quality.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Anticipate, detect and resolve problems in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Develop design parameters, performance characteristics, and specifications to satisfy customer needs and improve safety, quality, velocity and cost.
Guide evolution of technical design, project planning, detail design, and development testing; participate in supplier selection and capability assessment.
Monitor, explore, and test new technologies, materials, and components for potential improvements.
Construct and fabricate prototype equipment; oversee materials selection, process optimization and reliability testing.
