Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) Southwest Division in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead design, development, integration, and verification of advanced mechanical systems and weapon subsystems. Remote work may be available for the right candidate, with location options in Albuquerque or Shalimar.

The role requires a U.S. Citizenship, a bachelor’s in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, 10+ years of related experience, and strong CAD skills.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required due to sensitive information.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• At least 10 years of related experience in design, development and verification.
• Strong communication, leadership and teamwork abilities.
• Experience with CAD/drafting tools for life-critical components.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and analyze technical products and systems using solid and fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
• Perform design evaluations on weapons systems and tolerance analyses.
• Procure, assemble, and test prototypes to inform design decisions and demonstrate performance.
• Prepare designs for design reviews and produce required documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Ensure requirements are satisfied and verify through thorough validation.
