Job summary

Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center in Anchorage, AK seeks a Dental Assistant IV - Lead to oversee patient care, training, inventory, and clinic organization. The Lead will mentor staff and ensure a quality patient experience while coordinating sterilization and equipment maintenance.

The role supports providers, upholds HIPAA compliance, and drives workflow improvements across the dental team.

Qualifications

• Certification and 3-5 years' progressive dental assisting experience required.
• 8-10 years' progressive dental assisting experience may be substituted for education/certification.
• Community or Rural Dental care experience preferred.
• Fully competent to perform all requirements of Dental Assistant II, III.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial and ongoing training for new hires, existing dental clinical and support staff, and ensure competency check off is completed.
• Ensure smooth clinic flow with providers and dental assistants.
• Create, maintain and update the dental assisting and sterilization procedure manual.
• Assist in the coordination of dental equipment repair, and manages supply ordering and inventory, processing lab invoices.
• Perform all related dental assistant duties including operatory set up, prepare instruments for procedures, operatory maintenance between patients, sterilization and disinfection, patient intake including history, records chief complaint, vitals, and dental radiographs/panoramic x-ray under the Dentist direction as necessary.
• Provide staff training on Cone beam and Prime mill/Prime Scan.
• Coordinate patient care including scheduling, patient follow-up and patient education including Oral Hygiene Instructions.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and ensure clinical staff is compliant with HIPAA guidelines.
• Maintain waterlines by shocking operatories and hygiene cavitrons monthly and managing quarterly water testing.
• Record information concisely, accurately, and completely.
• Manage daily quality control processes.
• Support duties such as assisting other dental staff, stocking and cleaning exam rooms, cleaning, wrapping and autoclaving instruments; provide back up for Sterilization as needed.
• Manage Bi-Annual sterilization of all instruments throughout the dental clinic.
• Develop material and take minutes for break out meetings for dental assistants and the sterilization technician
• Ensure Sterilization weekly and monthly duties are being efficiently completed.
