Job summary

Longshot Space Technologies Corporation in Alameda, CA seeks a Lead Systems Engineer to be the technical face of defense capture efforts with the DoD, shaping solutions from early pursuits to formal proposals and defending them in front of program offices.

This senior IC role blends deep technical ownership with customer-facing influence, split approximately 75% with Government Programs on capture and execution and 25% embedded with the core engineering team, onsite with up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field is required.
• 5+ years of systems engineering experience in aerospace/defense programs.
• Proven ability to prepare and deliver briefings to DoW/DoD customers, program offices, and leadership.
• Strong understanding of DoD lifecycle (MDD, MSA, TMRR, EMD, P&D) and SE processes (requirements, architecture, V&V).
• Experience with requirements management and traceability tools (DOORS, Jama or equivalent).
• Ability to obtain security clearance and work onsite in Alameda, CA with up to 25% travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead capture engineering on defense pursuits from discovery to proposal submission.
• Identify technical discriminators to differentiate Longshot from competitors.
• Shape technical solutions aligned to requirements and evaluation criteria.
• Collaborate with BD and program management on pursuit strategy and teaming.
• Debrief internal teams on customer feedback and implications for roadmap.
• Define and document system interfaces, requirements traceability, and V&V plans.
• Draft technical white papers and responses to RFIs, BAAs, and RFPs.
• Develop CDRL deliverables and ensure compliance with data descriptions.
• Prepare technical briefings for program offices and leadership.
