Job summary

FIS is seeking an experienced Lead Database Administrator to design, implement, and sustain Db2 for z/os environments. You will oversee base definitions, security, and operational guidelines while improving performance and reliability.

Mentoring peers and coordinating with IBM on Db2 issues are key parts of the role. The candidate will perform testing, migrations, and recovery tasks, ensuring high availability and robust database services.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years in Db2 for z/os
• Experience installing, customizing, testing and maintaining DB2 in production
• Excellent written and verbal communication across teams

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement Db2 for z/os databases, including base definitions and structure
• Mentor less experienced DBAs and share domain knowledge
• Schedule tasks and ensure timely completion across environments
• Perform disaster recovery tasks and ensure high availability
• Tune and optimize database performance and diagnose issues
• Collaborate with applications and tech support to mitigate risks
• Maintain operational documentation for DR and recovery processes
• Participate in on-call rotations and outages
