Job summary

Allstate Insurance Company is seeking a Managing Engineer to lead the Database & Platform Engineering team responsible for on‑prem and cloud databases such as MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, and MongoDB Atlas. You will manage a team of Database Administrators / Platform Engineers who build, operate, and evolve platform services that enable product teams to ship features safely and quickly.

Qualifications

7+ years total experience in database administration or data platform engineering.
3+ years in a people management or technical leadership role.
Experience managing production deployments on premises and in cloud environments.
Understanding of database internals, replication, sharding, performance tuning, and backup/restore strategies.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of Database Administrators / Platform Engineers (hiring, performance reviews, career development).
Own the technical roadmap for database platform services (MySQL, Redis, MongoDB on prem and Atlas).
Drive scalability, availability, performance, and cost optimization across databases.
Design database architecture patterns (sharding, replication, HA, DR, backup retention).
Develop CI/CD and automation pipelines for provisioning, migrations, and configuration management.
