Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Lead Database Administrator to own and evolve our global database platform, ensuring security, scalability, and high performance across production, pre-production, and development environments.

You will lead design, tuning, replication, upgrades, and HA architectures while collaborating with engineering and operations teams; travel may be required for training and business needs.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Database Technical Lead, Database Architect, or Senior Database Administrator.
• Strong hands-on experience with at least two of the following technologies: PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Redis.
• Extensive experience administering databases in medium to large enterprise environments.
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of backup/recovery, replication, data migration, and performance monitoring.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with global cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead database design, performance tuning, query optimization, and operations.
• Install, configure, administer, and support PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Redis, and other NoSQL platforms.
• Implement proactive monitoring and alerting; manage replication and HA architectures.
• Perform database schema upgrades, testing, and deployments.
• Design, implement, and maintain highly available database architectures.
• Collaborate with development and support teams on release and change management.
