Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Principal Software Engineer, Data Architecture to shape and lead global data architecture strategy. You will partner with executive stakeholders to define governance, security, and scalable platforms across hybrid environments.

The role requires deep expertise in distributed data systems and hands-on work with modern cloud-native platforms, driving data mesh adoption and platform modernization at scale.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Principal Engineer, Lead Architect, or equivalent leadership role driving enterprise-scale data architecture.
• Deep expertise designing, building, and operating distributed data systems at global scale.
• Strong hands-on experience with modern cloud-native data platforms.
• Experience in modernizing data platforms across hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior technical leader for enterprise data architecture.
• Define and evolve Mastercard's global data architecture strategy across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
• Architect secure, resilient solutions that meet regulatory mandates.
• Champion Data Mesh principles and data-as-a-product capabilities.
• Lead modernization of legacy data platforms to cloud-native architectures.
• Mentor and influence global engineering teams.
