Job summary

OneSix is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to drive ML solutions for startups to Fortune 500s. This player-coach role combines hands-on model work, team leadership, and ownership of client relationships from scoping to delivery.

You will design, implement, and deploy ML across multiple domains, mentor junior scientists, and help shape ML practice at OneSix. Strong communication is essential wherever you work from.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on ML experience with a track record of shipping models to production.
• Background in consulting, professional services, or client-facing delivery preferred; manage scope and risk.
• Strong abilities in at least one area: predictive ML, computer vision, or LLM/agentic systems.
• Proficient across deployment stack: managed cloud services and Python/Docker/EC2 infrastructure.
• Fluency in Python and SQL; comfortable with Git and ML frameworks.
• Experience with experiment tracking and ML lifecycle management (MLflow/Weights & Biases).
• MS/PhD or equivalent depth demonstrated through shipped work.

Responsibilities

• Own client engagements end-to-end: scope the problem, build the solution, manage expectations and deliver.
• Lead small project teams and act as the technical/strategic client contact.
• Design, build, and deploy ML solutions across diverse domains and use cases.
• Work across deployment spectra including cloud ML platforms and containerized Python on infrastructure.
• Mentor junior and senior data scientists and shape ML practices at OneSix.
• Evaluate emerging tools and techniques and apply the best-fit approaches to client problems.
