Job summary

Ferguson Enterprises, LLC. seeks a Lead Backup & Recovery Engineer to lead the enterprise data protection architecture across on‑premises, hybrid, and multi‑cloud environments. You will define backup policies, recovery objectives, and data lifecycle standards while guiding platform migrations and governance initiatives.

You will present risk positions and status to senior leadership and ensure DR readiness through testing, automation, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on engineering experience with enterprise backup and recovery platforms.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, or a combination of education and experience.
• Experience leading enterprise-scale end-to-end migrations of backup systems.
• Ownership of data protection architecture across a large, heterogeneous estate.
• Experience establishing governance frameworks, standards, and SLA reporting.
• Experience leading vendor selection, including RFP and RFI development, PoC evaluation, and formal recommendation.
• Good background in cloud backup and cloud storage tiering in AWS, Azure, OCI, or GCP.
• Working knowledge of SAN, NAS, object storage, snapshots, and replication.
• Deep understanding of DR frameworks, RTO and RPO design, and DR testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with ITIL practices and formal change management processes.

Responsibilities

• Own the enterprise data protection strategy and architecture across on‑premises, hybrid, and multi‑cloud environments.
• Define and maintain backup, retention, recovery, and data lifecycle standards.
• Design and implement immutable, air‑gapped recovery capabilities.
• Establish standard protection patterns for various workloads and platforms.
• Lead evaluation, selection, implementation, migration, and lifecycle management of backup platforms.
• Develop disaster recovery architectures and testing programs.
• Serve as technical authority during DR exercises, audits, and incidents.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to integrate data protection requirements.
• Define governance, security controls, and SLA reporting for compliance.
• Own resource planning, licensing strategy, and cost optimization for backup environments.
