Job summary

Evapco, Inc. is seeking a Backup and Recovery Engineer to join the Architecture Solutions team at their Taneytown, MD headquarters.

The role focuses on designing, administering, and improving enterprise backup, recovery, and data resilience across on-premises, cloud, and SaaS environments to protect systems, data, and availability. You will own backup platforms, manage daily operations, investigate failures, perform restorations, and collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, application,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT/CS/Cybersecurity/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least three years in enterprise backup/recovery, data protection, or infra engineering.
• Experience administering enterprise backup platforms (Veeam/Commvault/etc.).
• Experience backing Windows/Linux servers, virtualization, file services, databases, cloud workloads.

Responsibilities

• Administer and optimize backup/recovery across on-prem, cloud, and SaaS.
• Configure policies, retention, replication, encryption, and capacity.
• Investigate failures, perform root-cause analysis, implement fixes.
• Execute restores for files, apps, databases, VMs, and system-state.
• Define recovery objectives and maintain runbooks and docs.
• Conduct DR exercises and cyber recovery simulations; document results.
• Design secure, resilient backup architectures with immutability/offsite copies.
• Support incident response, audits, and compliance for backup services.
• Monitor health, capacity, SLAs; coordinate upgrades and licensing.
• Automate tasks and reporting; advise teams on onboarding/recoverability.
