Job summary

JPMorgan Chase in Jersey City seeks a Lead Software Engineer to join the Data and Payments Observability Platform. You will own the design and delivery of an activity monitoring solution spanning a React UI and Java/Spring Boot backend services, with Kafka-based workflows on AWS.

Responsibilities include setting engineering standards, collaborating with product owners, optimizing data access in MySQL and Databricks, and leading CI/CD via Jenkins.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Experience leading design and delivery with cross-functional partners.
• Hands-on Java and Spring Boot, Python for automation.
• Proven Kafka-based systems experience.
• MySQL schema design and query optimization.
• Experience with Databricks and connecting apps to it.
• Experience with AWS and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins).
• Frontend React with data-heavy grids (AG Grid).
• Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools and secure SDLC.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of monitoring solution with React UI and Java/Spring Boot backend.
• Design event-driven workflows using Kafka with reliable delivery semantics.
• Set engineering standards for API design, error handling, security, and performance.
• Collaborate with product owners to translate requirements into technical designs.
• Manage data access patterns across MySQL and Databricks.
• Define deployment strategy on AWS (blue/green, canary, rollback).
• Own CI/CD pipelines and automated testing with Jenkins.
• Develop and maintain React UI with AG Grid and state management.
• Ensure production readiness through observability, logs, tracing, and incident runbooks.
• Promote AI-assisted engineering practices and secure coding standards.
