Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for the Data and Payments Data Platform within the Commercial and Investment Banking - Data Analytics Payment team.

The role focuses on building trusted, scalable data products and secure production code in an agile environment. You will lead design and development of data pipelines using Spark, Airflow, Kafka, and Flink, collaborate with product managers and analytics teams, and drive AI-assisted engineering practices to improve quality

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
• Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• 3+ years of professional experience focused on data engineering or data platform development.
• Advanced in one or more programming languages (Python, Java and SQL).
• Hands-on experience with distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark and Flink.
• Solid understanding of data modeling techniques (star schema, snowflake) and query optimization.
• Experience designing and operating data pipelines on Databricks using Airflow.
• Proficiency with cloud data services (AWS S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena, EMR).
• Demonstrated experience leading use of AI-assisted software development tools with validation standards.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine.
• Designs, builds, and maintains scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows for batch and real-time processing.
• Develops data platform components including data cataloging, data quality frameworks, and governance standards.
• Implements data modeling strategies to support analytics, reporting, and downstream consumption.
• Drives team adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
• Applies SDLC tools to improve automation and value realization.
• Partners with analytics teams, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into production-grade solutions.
• Develops secure high-quality production code and reviews code written by others.
• Identifies opportunities to automate remediation for stability.
• Leads evaluation sessions with vendors and teams to assess architecture and applicability.
