Job summary

Southwest Airlines is seeking a Software Engineer – Lead (Data Lakehouse) in Jefferson City, MO to guide a team building a cloud-based data lakehouse platform. You will own the software stack, drive architectural decisions, and ensure delivery aligns with business needs and non-functional requirements.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, manage a pod including staff and contractors, and provide accurate development estimates while advancing automation, testing, and deployment processes.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead and encourage a team of developers in building, shipping, and operating highly reliable software.
• Own technical excellence of the software produced by the team.
• Collaborate with business and stakeholder teams to ensure software meets functional and non-functional requirements.
• Act as an interface between the development team and leadership, aligning skill-sets with delivery expectations.
• Manage time across mission leadership, technical management/mentoring, and software development.
• Mentor and train development staff on architecture, tooling, and operations.
• Ensure code quality, security, performance, and compliance with standards.
