Job summary

First Command is seeking an Enterprise Data Steward to lead data governance initiatives, guide data usage decisions, and safeguard enterprise data assets. You will champion data quality, set standards, and coordinate data stewards across business units to improve accuracy, completeness, and consistency of critical data.

You will implement lineage and metadata practices, develop governance workflows, and work with IT on data integration while maintaining regulatory compliance and risk controls.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of data governance or related experience.
• Experience mentoring others and leading small teams.
• Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL database concepts.
• Strong understanding of Data Governance and Data Quality.
• Experience documenting data mapping and data lineage.
• Metadata management and data quality methodology knowledge.
• SQL proficiency with T-SQL and PL/SQL.
• Cloud data solutions experience; Microsoft Azure a plus.
• Experience with data governance/quality tools (Collibra, Informatica, Purview, Talend, Aperture).
• Experience with Agile frameworks (SAFe, Kanban, Scrum).
• Documenting business definitions of technical assets and data organization.
• Transforming manual processes to industry standards.
• Comfort with ambiguity; ability to generate innovative solutions.
• Self-starter with initiative to achieve tangible results.

Responsibilities

• Champion and establish data governance policies and monitoring.
• Define best practices and shape the Data Catalog.
• Report on Enterprise Data Quality Score and escalate issues.
• Manage Data Steward work and data domain assignments.
• Define assets, their meaning, lineage, and workflows for data stewardship.
• Ensure new systems adhere to data management practices and policies.
• Author data quality rules considering data criticality and usage.
• Identify and resolve data quality issues cost-effectively and timely.
• Generate data quality statistics for stakeholders.
• Lead mass data-cleansing initiatives to purge or remove redundant data.
• Identify causes of data quality issues and drive remediation.
