Job summary

Selective Insurance seeks a Data Steward to ensure data in the business domain is clearly defined, trusted, governed, and fit for business and regulatory needs.

The Data Steward collaborates with stakeholders, IT, and the Data Governance Office to drive data quality, metadata management, and data literacy, fostering a data-driven culture and secure data practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in MIS, Business Management, Information Technology or equivalent field.
• 4+ years' work experience in data management, data analytics, data governance initiatives.
• Knowledge of Data Governance, data management and data quality processes across the data lifecycle.
• Insurance industry experience preferred.
• Data modeling experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Implements data governance policies and standards within their business domain, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Defines data quality expectations and rules, monitors quality, root cause analysis with IT.
• Builds, manages and curates a data catalog of enterprise data and metadata.
• Consults on projects from a Data Governance perspective.
• Defines, creates, validates, and maintains metadata for data assets and KDEs.
• Develops training and data literacy programs for stakeholders.
• Evangelizes Data Governance to elevate data reliability across the organization.
