Job summary

Civic Marketplace is seeking a data engineering lead to design and build the foundation for trusted public-procurement data. You will own ingestion, canonical data models, and scalable infrastructure to support AI-enabled procurement workflows.

You will work closely with the engineering leadership, handle diverse data sources, and ensure data quality, lineage, and production readiness across the platform.

Qualifications

• Experience building data platforms in startups or scale-ups.
• Proficient in SQL and Python with strong data modeling skills.
• Hands-on with messy external sources (APIs, flat files, PDFs).
• Experience in entity resolution/record linkage.
• Ability to design scalable data infrastructure and pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Own data trust, diagnosis, and remediation strategies.
• Build robust ingestion pipelines from diverse sources.
• Define the canonical data model and identifiers across systems.
• Ensure data lineage, freshness, and test coverage.
• Develop the data layer for AI-enabled procurement workflows.
