AIR Communities is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to design and optimize scalable data pipelines and cloud-based platforms that support analytics, ML, and business-critical apps. You will shape data infrastructure and collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 12–14+ years in data or related engineering roles, with 8+ years in data engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and/or Python for data processing and automation.
• Hands-on experience building and optimizing data pipelines and integration workflows.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, performance optimization, and query tuning.
• Experience with cloud data platforms and their ecosystems.
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts and orchestration patterns.
• Understanding of data governance, data security, and handling regulated data.
• Experience with version control and CI/CD practices.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for large datasets.
• Write SQL and Python for data ingestion, transformation, and integration.
• Optimize data workflows for performance, security, and cost in cloud environments.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to meet data needs.
• Implement data governance and security across pipelines and assets.
• Monitor data flows, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data quality.
• Integrate data from internal and external sources into centralized platforms.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring within the team.
• Evaluate new tools and architectures and recommend improvements.
• Conduct performance tuning across ingestion, transformation, and storage layers.
