Job summary

Peraton in Austin, TX seeks an experienced data center engineer to lead modernization, capacity planning, resiliency, and infrastructure optimization initiatives across enterprise data centers, with a focus on VA mission-critical environments, security compliance, and robust 24x7 operations.

You will own the technical outcomes for assigned workstreams, mentor junior engineers, and produce reference designs across power, cooling, cabling and compute.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of data center engineering experience with a demonstrated record leading modernization/capacity work.
• Education substitutions per Peraton Career & Compensation Framework: Master's substitutes ~2 years of required experience; Ph.D. substitutes ~5 years; In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 4 additional years of relevant experience is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex data center engineering, modernization, capacity, resiliency, and infrastructure-optimization initiatives.
• Own the technical outcome for assigned engineering workstreams; guide junior engineers and provide design authority on reviews.
• Author reference designs and standards content across power, cooling, cabling, and compute domains.
• Serve as senior technical interface to VA stakeholders during design reviews, site assessments, and modernization planning.
